Joy Jennings for Spring Arbor Township Trustee
Meet Joy
Dear Spring Arbor Residents and Neighbors,

Spring Arbor Township is my home and community. As a Spring Arbor University (SAU) graduate and resident, I care about uplifting our township to its best potential. As a social worker, the value of service defines my posture towards life with the primary goals of helping people in need and addressing social problems. As a Township Trustee, I would work hard to better our community and hear the needs of my neighbors.

I bring a wealth of experience which would inform my tenure. I worked for the State of Michigan for five years, which provided me direct insight into how our state’s government functions. My first role working for the state was as a foster care case manager in Jackson County where I learned about problem solving, systemic impacts, policy execution, and assessing needs. In my Master of Social Work program at MSU, I completed coursework related to policy analysis, budgeting, organizational management, and community engagement, which has provided me with essential skills for political participation.

Because of my background as a mental health therapist, I am inspired to approach people and issues with empathy, understanding, and a trauma-informed perspective. I have always loved to be involved in my community; for example, I was in student government at SAU and the student coordinator for the Action Jackson mentoring program.

I am excited for this campaign to be my next avenue of service. When you see me around town or knocking on your door, I look forward to discussion about your perspectives, needs, and hopes for our community. Enjoy Community. Enjoy Spring Arbor.

Sincerely,
Joy R. Jennings
